At least four structures were damaged and dozens of homes evacuated Wednesday as a wind-whipped grassfire northwest of Idaho's capital city expanded to thousands of acres and threatened rural subdivisions. No injuries were reported.

Underground power lines not cure-all for avoiding storms

The lengthy power outages left in the wake of Sunday's storm have prompted calls for burying power lines underground, where they would be sheltered from wind, rain and snow -- but such a move is expensive and wouldn't necessarily solve the problem, officials say.

Front Yard Wind Power Plan Irks SF Neighbors

Neighbors are not pleased with a San Francisco man's plans to plant a 35-foot, three-bladed turbine in his front yard. Nathan Miller, who lives close Twin Peaks, is big on green energy. So he set out to install a turbine similar to the ones that you can look on the Altamont Pass, only smaller.
